1、concede
concede是動詞,常見的有三個意思。
首先,指不情愿或勉強地“承認”。
The Government has conceded that the new tax policy has been a disaster. 承認新的稅收政策是徹底失敗的。
That principle now seems to have been conceded. 那條原則現(xiàn)在似乎已被承認了。
第二,指不情愿地”讓步,讓與,答應(yīng)”。
He is not willing to concede any of his authority. 他不愿交出自己的任何權(quán)力。
Britain conceded independence to India in 1947. 英國在1947年承認印度獨立。
第三,意為“認輸,承認失敗”。
She conceded even before all the votes had been counted. 選票還沒全部點算她就認輸了。

2、concerning
concerning這時看作介詞,意為“關(guān)于,涉及”,也很常見。
He asked several questions concerning the future of the company. 他問了幾個有關(guān)公司前途的問題。
I've had a letter from the tax authorities concerning my tax payments. 我收到了稅務(wù)*寄來的關(guān)于我納稅情況的一封信。
concert作名詞,意為“音樂會”,詞組 in concert指“音樂會現(xiàn)場演出”。
We were going to a concert in Bath Abbey. 我們要去聽一場在巴思修道院內(nèi)舉行的音樂會。
They're appearing in concert tonight at the Royal Concert Hall. 他們今晚將在皇家音樂大廳登臺演出。
短語in concert 還有一個意思為“一起行動,和…一起行動”。
Britain has to pursue policies in concert with other EU members. 英國必須和其他歐盟成員國一起貫徹各項政策。
If the member countries would act in concert, the problem might be solved more easily. 如果成員國行動一致,這個問題可能會更容易解決。
4、concession
concession是常見的重要名詞,常見的主要有兩個意思。
首先,意為“妥協(xié),讓步”。
The British were not prepared to make any concessions. 英國人沒有打算作出讓步。
The committee has won a number of major concessions from the prison authorities. 會已經(jīng)從當局那里爭取到一些重大的讓步。
第二,意為“特許權(quán),優(yōu)惠”。
The company has just won a mining concession in the north of the country. 這個公司剛剛?cè)〉昧嗽?北部的特許采礦權(quán)。
You can get travel concessions if you are under 26. 26歲以下者乘車可以獲得優(yōu)惠。
5、concise
concise是 形容詞,意為“簡潔的,簡明的”,等于brief。 Burton's text is concise and informative. 伯頓的文章語言簡潔,信息豐富。 Whatever you are writing make sure you are clear, concise, and accurate. 無論寫什么,一定要清晰、簡練、準確。6、conclude
